At the start of a diet, people most certainly look at food store and big brand food items labelled 'low in fat'. To do this is far too often a miscalculation, in that an item could be significantly reduced in fats, but nevertheless elavated in calories and carbs.
Some low carbohydrate diet guidlines:
* Don't ignore the fiber
Decreasing the carbohydrates in your meals usually leads to reduction in fiber also. Check for low carbohydrate recipes that are rich in fiber to redress this.
* It is possible to make superb smoothies by using low carbohydrate yogurt.
Admittedly, you can't really describe it as cooking, but if you must have smoothies you can make them with low carb yogurt and your favorite fruit. Clearly, you will need to ensure you use fruit that is low in carbs and use all of the fruit as the fiber is beneficial.

The phytochemical lycopene is a non-synthetic compound used to color foods and member of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is accountable for the deep red colour of quite a few natural foods.
Fortunately, unlike numerous nutrients, it does not become less effective if cooked but is genuinely improved by the cooking process.
Its most valuable health contribution is that it works as an antioxidant and appears to help lower the risks of cancer.
Lycopene is the most powerful carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with aging of the skin. It's also believed to curtail the development of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels.
