Steamed Cabbage Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

1 nape or green cabbage, about 1 1/2 lbs., i often
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 tsp crystalline fructose
1/2 tsp hot pepper flakes
2 tsp caraway seeds
1/4 tsp salt
1 black pepper, to taste
1/4 cup water
1 red bell pepper, dices (if red pric, e high, i use gre

Recipe Preparation

Core cabbage and slice thinly. In a small saucepan, mix vinegar,
fructose, pepper flakes, caraway seeds. Cook about 4 minutes and
remove from heat. Meanwhile, fill a large kettle with about 1" of
water and bring to a boil. Place cabbage slices and bell pepper in a
steamer basket and place over water. Steam, covered, 3 minutes.
Remove to a serving bowl. Pour sauce through strainer over cabbage

A few tips on healthy eating

In planning a diet, the important thing is to also endeavour to restrict your ingestion of refined carbohydrates, salt and fats.
Some reduced carbohydrate diet pointers:
* Make reduced carb breadcrumbs for deep fried foods. While you can sometimes buy reduced carbohydrate bread crumbs, you can also make them by using low carbohydrate bread. All you have to do is toast the reduced carbohydrate bread in your oven on a sheet of cookie paper. When it is well browned, grind it in your blender. Keep in an airtight jar.

* Understand the food labels Don't trust food packaging that proclaims 'low carb' - check the real nutritional information on the back of the tin or packet. A good number of are only a little reduced and in some instances still more than a competitors normal brand. In addition, beware of 'low sugar' and 'low fat' labels - 'low sugar' does not always mean 'low carb' - usually the carbs are just the same.

(includes paprika, rose hip puree and tomato ketchup)
These colorful healthy superfoods have high levels of carotenes thought to play a role in minimizing the chances of contracting, particularly of the esophagus. A good number also have a low calorie count, so should be included in your diet system.
