Some things you have to do every day. Eating seven apples on Saturday night instead of one a day just isn't going to get the job done.
[Jim Rohn]

Watermelon --it's a good fruit. You eat, you drink, you wash your face.
[ Enrico Caruso]

Fruits are acceptable gifts, because they are the flower of commodities, and admit of fantastic values being attached to them. If a man should send to me to come a hundred miles to visit him, and should set before me a basket of fine summer-fruit, I should think there was some proportion between the labor and the reward.
[ Ralph Waldo Emerson]

Blackberry Mint Sorbet

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup fresh mint leaves
4 cup blackberries or dewberries
1 cup red burgundy wine
1 lemon juice (opt'l.)
1 additional berries - for garnish

Preparation

In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water and mint. Bring to a
boil, then simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about
5 minutes to make a mint-flavored simple syrup. Strain, discarding
mint leaves, and cool. In a food processor, coarsely puree the
berries. Turn into a bowl and stir in the wine and mint syrup. Taste
and add lemon juice if you prefer a tarter flavor. Pour the liquid
into an ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's
directions until firm. Garnish with additional berries. Yield: 1
1/2 quarts.
