Cucina Rustica: Steak Pizzaiola Recipe
Recipe Ingredients
1 lb boneless sirloin steak
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 large tomatoes, peel, seed, chop
2 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped
Recipe Preparation
Alla pizzaiola: cooked in sauce that makes the dish taste like pizza.
Between 2 sheets of waxed paper, pound steak with meat pounder to just
under 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into 1/2-inch wide strips; season with
pinch each of salt and pepper.
In large skillet, heat oil over high heat; brown meat, in batches,
for 2 minutes. Remove to plate.
Reduce heat to medium and add onion and garlic; cook, stirring, for
about 5 minutes or until well softened. Stir in tomatoes, oregano and
remaining salt and pepper, stirring to deglaze pan. Return meat and
any accumulated juices to pan; simmer for 5 minutes or until slightly
thickened and meat is tender.

Serve with rice or mashed potatoes and sugar peas.

Dieting made easyOne useful tip is to drink plenty of water. From time to time at some stage in a hectic morning, you guess that you want a snack but in fact you might just need a refreshing glass of water or orange squash. To store, keep in an airtight jar or container.
* You can create really great smoothies by using reduced carbohydrate yogurt. Yes, you can't really describe it as cooking, but if you adore smoothies you can throw them together with low carb yogurt and fruit. Of course, you will need to make sure you only make use of fruit that is low in carbohydrates and use the whole fruit as you need the fiber.

The chemical lypcopene is a natural coloring compound and one of the phytochemical group known as 'carotenids'. It is the agent responsible for the vivid red hue of a good number of fruits and vegetables.

. Its most important benefit is that it works as an antioxidant and is believed to be of use in the fight to lower the risks of cancer.
