Food Tips of the Week
Losing weightRecognise the difference between hunger and thirst. The feelings of hunger and thirst are quite alike, but one can result in weight gain and the alternative is fine.
The case against low carb diets
Its popular as hell, but it is truly safe and healthy for you?
Remember, one point that is usually overlooked, it is very hard (although certainly not impossible) for vegetarians to follow a reduced carbohydrate diet.
Eliminating carbs might mean missing out on vital nutrients from healthy foods which must be part of any well adjusted diet, specifically those obtained from grains, vegetables and fruits.
Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, onions and spring onions)
The onion, leek and garlic family is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is not enough, hard medical proof available, allyl sulphides are also thought by many experts to reduce the symptoms of colds, sterilization and diabetes.
Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be included in your weight loss program.
