Food Tips of the Week
Some reduced carb diet guidlines:
* Use low carbohydrate chocolate for chocolate muffins. If you have taken the time to convert your tasty chocolate chip cookie or chocolate muffins recipe using soy flour, it would be insane to mix in those high carb sugar-rich chocolate. Break up a low carbohydrate chocolate bar into tiny chunks and use that instead.
* Eat regular meals Most low carbohydrate recipes are, well...., low in carbs. Our bodies need energy, and carbs are a very efficient source of energy. A low carbohydrate diet requires care and attention in controlling your energy intake, as any energy provided by protein and fat is slower acting.
* Replace sugar with splenda. Most recipes that require sugar can be modified to make use of splenda instead. It is much lighter so you will have to do a bit of trial and error and it may not work for every dish, but it does bake up nice in most cases.
Dieting made easyOne useful tip is to drink plenty of water. From time to time at some stage in a hectic morning, you guess that you want a snack but in fact you might just need a refreshing glass of water or orange squash. The feelings of needing food and needing a drink are quite similar, but one of the two can lead to a broken diet and the other is ok.
