Beef & Barley Soup Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

1 tbsp Cooking oil
2 lb Beef short ribs
2 medium Onions, coarsely chopped
3 Carrots, sliced
3 Stalks Celery, sliced
1 can Whole tomatoes (28 oz.),
With liquid, chopped
2 tsp Water
4 Chicken bouillon cubes
1/3 cup Medium pearl barley

Recipe Preparation

In a large dutch oven or kettle, heat oil over medium-high. Brown
beef. Add onions, carrots, celery, tomatoes, water and bouillon;
bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for about 2 hours or until beef is
tender. Add barley; simmer another 50-60 minutes or until barley is
done. Yield: 10-12 servings. (3 1/2 qts.)

Advice on losing weight

Make sure that you drink enough fluids. Sometimes at some stage in a hectic work day, you feel you need food when in truth you may need a refreshing glass of water or cranberry juice. * Don't skip meals Most reduced carb recipes are, errmm.., low in carbs. Your body must have energy, and carbs are a fast acting energy source. A reduced carbohydrate diet needs more care in managing your energy intake, as any energy given by protein and fat is much slower acting.

The flavonoids which exist in these fruits and vegetables are thought to have properties in fighting cancer.
Doctors investigating the nutritional effects of flavonoids think that they may well also have most other healthy benefits, including, but not limited to, anti-allergic and antioxidant properties.
The majority of these are also low in calories, so you should add them to your diet system.
