"Playwrights are like men who have been dining for a month in an Indian restaurant. After eating curry night after night, they deny the existence of asparagus."
Peter Ustinov

Asian recipes have draw on thousands of years of experience to produce a rich variety of spicy and healthy recipes.

"The dishes of the present day are very light, and they have a particular delicacy and perfume. The secret has been discovered of enabling us to eat more and to eat better, as also to digest more rapidly....The new cookery is conductive to health, to good temper, and to long life....Who could enumerate all the dishes of the new cuisine? It is an absolutely new idiom. I have tasted viands prepared in so many ways and fashioned with such art that I could not imagine what they were."
Louis Sebastien Mercier

Kalbi Kui

Ingredients

2 lb short ribs
1 tbsp bouillon powder
1/4 cup water
3 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp sesame oil
2 scallions, diced

Preparation

Marinate the ribs in the rest of the ingredients for
several hours (or overnight) in a covered dish in the
refrigerator. Turn at least once half-way through the
marinating time. (I put it in the refrigerator the
night before, then turn the ribs in the morning and
put them back in the refrigerator until dinnertime.)
Broil 5 minutes each side.

NOTES:

* Korean marinated ribs -- Suitable for Passover.

* This is traditional for Passover in our house
(well, we like Oriental food, and Passover is somewhat
limiting...).

: Difficulty: easy.
: Time: Several hours marinating, 15 minutes cooking.
: Precision: no need to measure.
